FAQs

  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science of learning and behavior. ABA helps us understand why behaviors occur and how we can teach new skills that support independence, communication, social development, and daily living.

At Core Abilities, ABA is never about changing who a person is. Instead, we focus on teaching skills that help individuals achieve their goals, communicate effectively, navigate daily challenges, and participate in activities that are important to them and their families.

Every child and family is unique. That's why we take the time to understand each individual's strengths, interests, learning style, and personal goals before developing a treatment plan.

  • A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a professional who has completed advanced graduate-level training in behavior analysis and has met certification requirements established by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

BCBAs assess behavior, identify factors that influence learning, develop individualized treatment plans, and monitor progress over time. We also collaborate closely with families and other professionals to ensure interventions are effective, practical, and meaningful.

As part of maintaining certification, BCBAs participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education to stay current with the latest research and best practices in the field.
